Kai Williams received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications with a concentration in Interpersonal Communication from William Paterson University located in Wayne, New Jersey. Currently, she is in the ending stages of obtaining her Masters in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing from the University of Phoenix graduating in late 2007. She is also matriculating at Luther Rice Seminary endeavoring to secure her Masters in Biblical Counseling. Ms. Williams is an active member of Elizabeth Baptist Church (EBC) under the teachings of Pastor Craig L. Oliver Sr. She is also walking in her gift of counseling in the Assimilation Ministry as a Decision Counselor assisting those souls who may have lost their way and as a “Laymen” Counselor in the EBC Encouragers Ministry.
In addition, Ms. Williams, along with other notable women from the Atlanta area organized a chapter of a women’s professional networking organization called W.I.S.E. (Women in Sports and Events) for which she is the former Vice President and Co-Founder. In 2006 she was invited to sit on the Advisory Board for American Intercontinental University’s inaugural Sports Marketing and Entertainment major roll out and in 2007 she was invited to also sit on the University’s Business Management major as well. Ms. Williams is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
Ms. Williams is formerly, the first Marketing and Sales Coordinator at the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) in Lilburn, Georgia. She managed the sponsor services program including successful integration and implementation of all sponsor related events ran by the WBCA. In addition, she developed membership drives and programs to generate additional revenue and Marketing plans for the WBCA as it relates to the strategic plan of the organization.
Finally, Ms. Williams designed plans to maintain current sponsors and clients while effectively leveraging the corporate client relationship.
Most recently she was employed at NYC2012, U.S. Applicant City for the 2012 Olympic Games. Kai assisted the Director of Sports in management of the Olympian and Paralympian database, coordinated logistics (travel, lodging & transportation) for Olympians and Paralympians during events and programs. In addition, she assisted the Director of Major Events in contract negotiations for event logistics, onsite management and interacted with the public about the mission and goals of the bid committee.
Prior to working with NYC2012, Ms. Williams earned a position as a Public Relations Programs Department Intern with the prestigious United States Olympic Committee, (USOC) headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colorado. During her tenure at the USOC she was responsible for one of the departments major programs entitled, F.L.A.M.E. (Finding Leaders Among Minorities Everywhere). F.L.A.M.E inspires minority youth to cultivate their desire to succeed and rise above the ordinary level of expectation. F.L.A.M.E. enhances their mind, body and spirit by providing the participants with opportunities for personal and professional growth, exposure to diverse lifestyles outside of their urban environment, and role models to whom they can relate to and emulate.
Ms. Williams responsibilities included: Event Management, assisting the Director with information and material distribution, coordinating the development and design for the Public Relations Programs Department web site and assisting in the development and execution of sponsor objectives. Kai has remained involved with the Program from 2000 to 2005 as an volunteer Coordinator. Ms. Williams has sat on the Applicant Selection Committee during her tenure along with managing the Alumni who return to assist with the program.
Finally, she began her career in sports as the Public Relations intern at the Women’s Sports Foundation in Long Island, New York. Her duties included: constructing the department’s newsletter, interacting with domestic and international media outlets (print, broadcast), assisting in the marketing strategies/promotions of the Awards and Grants given by the Foundation and being point of contact for professional athletes during the Foundation’s Annual Award Dinner held at the Waldorf-Astoria. Ms. Williams also worked closely with the former Executive Director, Dr. Donna Lopiano regarding interview request and assisted in maintaining communications with each department.
